How we calculate it

Each QCE General subject gives a result out of 100, set by QCAA.

QTAC scales every subject so stronger cohorts carry more weight. We use the real scaling curves from the QTAC ATAR Report 2025, which list the scaled score at five points across each subject's cohort, and we interpolate between them.

Your best five scaled results add up to an aggregate out of 500. It must include an English subject, so if your top five leave English out, we swap your best English subject in, just as QTAC does.

We map that aggregate to an indicative ATAR using the 2025 distribution, where the median sits near 80 and only about a quarter of eligible students reach 90 or above.
Scaling figures come from the QTAC ATAR Report 2025, the most recent published. QTAC recalculates real scaling every year from the live cohort, so we refresh these curves when each new report is released.
