An education in scholarship exam preparation.
The selective school entry exam is not like the school curriculum. Our program teaches the question formats, time pressure, and reasoning strategies that EduTest and ACER actually test.
How the program runs
Weekly 2-hour classes across Year 4, 5, and 6. Designed as a progression: students typically start in Year 5 or earlier and build toward the exams they sit late in Year 6 for Year 7 entry.
Each session combines instruction on test formats (verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, reading comprehension, written expression) with timed practice. Detailed individual feedback on written pieces is returned weekly.
- Year 4–6 students targeting Queensland Academies (QASMT, QAHS, QACI)
- Students applying for BSHS, Brisbane State High School entry
- Applicants for Brisbane Grammar, Somerville House, and other private schools offering scholarship exams
How it's taught
Scholarship exams reward practised technique more than raw knowledge. Our program is built around format familiarity, time management, and the specific reasoning patterns EduTest and ACER use.
Format-specific practice
Separate tracks for verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, reading comprehension, and written expression — the four pillars of both exams.
Timed mock exams
Regular timed sections mimicking real exam conditions build the stamina and pacing students need on the day.
Individual written feedback
Written expression tasks are marked individually with targeted feedback — the highest-leverage area for most students.
Technique over content
We focus on reasoning strategies and the subtle question patterns these exams favour. Content knowledge matters less than pattern recognition.
- QASMT, BSHS & private school targets
- EduTest and ACER formats
- Timed mock exams
- Individual written feedback
- Year-by-year progression
